General Questions About North Bend
Q: As of today (May 10, 2020), are there are any parks or hiking trails open nearby, or are any breweries or restaurants are at least doing dine outside or takeaway etc.?
As of May 5th, pretty much all the parks and hiking trails opened up with the exception of Rattlesnake Lake and Ledge. Most of the park restrooms will be closed though. Check our North Bend Escapes guidebook https://hostful.ly/r/ptsvsql under hikes and climbs to see all the wonderful places you can go. There are plenty of places local for take out see https://www.snovalley.org/members/category/eat-local-take-out-240 . There are three breweries and a winery listed.
Q: In a nutshell, what are some of the great things to do around North Bend?
For a short summary by activity category on a map with a photo, check our North Bend Escapes guidebook https://hostful.ly/r/ptsvsql. Each activity card provides a link to the North Bend Escapes website for more details.
Wineries and breweries: tastings are mostly on weekends so you might want to reserve a Saturday or Sunday to go tasting. Although Sigillo Cellars in Snoqualmie is more of a restaurant format with entertainment sometimes and is open every evening for wine/dinner. Wildflower Wine Shop is walking distance from our Suites and is open every evening. If you like beer, try the new Volition Brewery in downtown North Bend or the Snoqualmie Brewery and Taproom in downtown Snoqualmie (about 4 miles from North Bend). While in the area, Snoqualmie Falls is a “must see”. You can hike down to the bottom and back as well. In general grapes are grown on the east side of the cascades and all the wineries here buy them and then make wine.
Boat tours: I start by mentioning the Seattle area ferry system which are a great enjoyable way to go over to the west side of Puget Sound without fighting the traffic through Tacoma and over the Narrows bridge. For $121.00 you can even take a day trip from Seattle to Victoria BC and come back that evening. Seattle has duck boat tours. The Blake Island Tillicum boat trip combines a boat trip with a salmon dinner and an experience with the local Salish people on an island in Puget Sound.
Local ideas: North Bend Theater is walking distance from our suites. There are lots of great breakfast and coffee shops in downtown North Bend. Also local shops. Snoqualmie Casino just up the road has Vegas Style gaming and entertainment as well as three really great restaurants. There is a visitor center and Snoqualmie Valley Historical Info Center just across the little park from Moon River if you’re interested in learning about the history of the Snoqualmie Valley. Also the Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie for railroad history and train rides. Hiking, biking and outdoor activities are big here. You can walk down the river from Moon River to the Snoqualmie Valley trail and see the elk herd, go to Franklin Falls or Twin Falls, or perhaps challenge yourself on one of the many mountains nearby of varying elevations. Mt Si is the landmark mountain that you can see out the front bedroom window. It’s a 6 mile roundtrip hike 3000 foot elevation gain – the most popular hike in Washington state. While snow in North Bend is relatively rare (but still possible November to February), it is plentiful up on Snoqualmie Pass where there are many winter activities. Ski season is generally mid December to the end of March but varies by year. Spring brings out the wildflowers and the end of March brings out the first of the rhododendrons. The rivers and waterfalls are at high flow in Spring. There is great hiking all year round – the best trails depend on the season, your level of experience and fitness, and your preference to hike in rainy/snowy conditions or not.
General Questions About North Bend Escapes' Properties
Q: Is the hot tub available for us to use?
Answer:
All of our suites are equipped with a private hot tub exclusively for your use. Our hot tubs operate year round, 24 hours, under all weather conditions. We ask that you cover your hot tub when not in use so that it does not lose its heat. We use chlorine based systems which are very effective in killing the coronavirus.
Q: Are early checkins or late checkouts available?
Q: How does the security deposit work? Is it refundable? When will I get my money back?
Answer:
The security deposit is fully refundable as long as there is no damage to the property resulting from your stay. Damage claims are an extremely rare occurrence. The details of how the deposit is handled is dependent on the site where you book. In all cases your funds will be freed up no later than one day after your departure.

Answer:
Both are about the same size suite (1100 square feet). They have similar amenities and each has a private hot tub on the back deck. The 5 Moon River Suites all share a common backyard with a private beach on the river.
Q: What is your cleaning process during Covid?
Answer:
Our properties are only cleaned by our three trained cleaners. We clean all surfaces with Clorox bleach based products. The hot tub uses chlorine based products in the water and is refreshed after every guest. We can completely drain and refill it prior to your arrival upon request.

Hot Tubs General Questions
Q: How do I operate the hot tub?

When you enter the hot tub it should between 100 and 104 degrees. This is the optimal temperature for the best experience in the spa.
To turn on/off the jets, turn each silver knob around each jet. You can also press the jet button on the hot tub’s control panel.
You can easily change the temperature of the water with the buttons on the hot tub controls as shown in the photos above. Your suite’s hot tub controller will be one of the two controllers shown above or something very similar. There are buttons to raise/lower the water temperature as well as turn the jets and light on/off. The temperature control from the controller is gradual – about 1-2 degrees Fahrenheit per hour.
To flash heat the tub, attach the hose to the left hand water faucet nearby the tub. At Moon River Suites, there is already a green hose coming out of the side wall that is connected to the hot water tank (the left hand faucet – Figure lower left). At North Bend Downtown Suite and Cottage simply hook up the hose to the left hand faucet (Figure lower right). This will flash heat the hot tub up about 3-4 degrees. The hot water tank will run out of hot water after 3-5 mins so you need watch it or it could make the hot tub colder. It takes about 30 mins for the hot water tank to heat back up. There is a drain under the deck so it’s OK for the water to over flow.
Please cover the hot tub when you’re not using or it will lose heat, especially in the cooler months.

Q: The tub is filled to the brim. Do I need to drain before entering?
Answer:
It’s OK to enter the hot tub and just let the excess water spill over the side and drain. We clean and refresh the hot tub before every new guest’s arrival.
Moon River Suites
Q: What do I do if the hot tub is not turning on?

If the hot tub is not turning on, then one of 3 things could be the cause: a circuit breaker popped in the master bedroom, the gfi plug upstairs in the bathroom needs reset, or the plug for the hot tub needs reset. Watch the following video to see how to troubleshoot and reset the breakers.
First check the black plug that the hot tub is connected to (left side image). To reset the plug and bring power to the hot tub press the bottom of two white buttons on the black plug that the hot tub is connected to. If the red light goes off, you are all set.
After you have done this and the red light is still on, follow the instructions in the video below to check/ reset both the master breaker box and then the gfi plug in the upstairs bathroom.
Q: Does Moon River Suites have access to the river and may I go wading?
Answer:
Yes, we have access to the river. We have a small beach in the trees on the upstream side of the suites. It’s safe to go in the river when the water is low with slower current. This is generally in the summer months of July, August and September. When the water rises and/or is colder it is no longer safe to enter due to the speed and force of the current. During the non-summer months, you may enjoy watching the river flow by but not wading or swimming as it is too dangerous.
Q: Are Moon River Suites Pet Friendly?
Suites 4 and 5 are pet friendly. There is a one time pet cleaning fee of $35 for up to 2 pets. We welcome all dogs except for dangerous breeds like pit bulls for which our insurance will not cover. Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring a pet. Please clean up after your pets in the yard.
How the pet fee is paid depends on how you have booked.
North Bend Escapes Rewards and VRBO guests pay the fee as part of the booking process.
AirBnb customers pay the fee either on Venmo (to Rick-Arons-1), via the AirBnb Resolution Center or with cash left in the suite at departure.
booking.com guests may pay either on Venmo (to Rick-Arons-1) or via cash left in the suite at departure.

Small appliances include: a blender, two coffee makers (Keurig and regular), a coffee grinder, a kettle, toaster oven, and pop up toaster.
Our kitchen is well supplied with pots and pans, bowls, and things needed for cooking. There are all types of plates, dishes, glasses, and utensils for dining. We have basics needed for cooking like salt and pepper, oil, spices, etc.
You shouldn’t have to bring anything except the food you are planning to cook. If there’s something missing that you need, please contact us.
Q: May we smoke at Moon River Suites and if so where?
Per house rules, smoking is not permitted inside the building at any time or in the back yard upper level near the suites. You may smoke down by the river in the lower level back yard away from the building or in the designated area in the parking lot on the cement block near Moon River 1 on the left hand side facing the building. Please pick up your butts and throw away after you are finished.
Q: Moon River Suites is along a river. What about flooding in the winter months?
There are 3 forks of the Snoqualmie River. The Middle Fork and South Fork flow through North Bend and Moon River is located on the banks of the South Fork. There is a dike next to the river by Moon River so the water has a long way to climb up before it could reach the property.
We monitor the river levels and forecasts as needed via weather stations and internet during the rainy seasons and provide alerts to guests if needed. Most of the flooding in the Snoqualmie Valley occurs below the Falls in the lower valley from Fall City to Monroe. While the upper valley including North Bend and Snoqualmie is not immune to flooding, it’s very rare and would take at least 10 inches of rain falling all at once in the watershed of the Middle Fork and South Fork of the Snoqualmie above town. Downtown North Bend has only flooded once in the last 50 years (during the 90s).
About 3 years ago the Army Corps of Engineers widened and lowered the dam at Snoqualmie Falls. This has further decreased chances of flooding in the upper Snoqualmie Valley.
In the event of flooding in the lower Snoqualmie Valley, I-90 is the best way into North Bend from the Seattle area (vs taking Highway 202 and/or 203).
Q: Could you provide more details about the river by the Suites and the wooded walk to the swimming hole?
Answer:
Search for Riverfront Park on our website northbendescapes.com. There are some river photos including the swimming hole. You can also play in the shallows at the little beach at Moon River. The landscaping is not yet complete as of May 11, 2020. At normal summer water levels it’s OK to play in the water but please closely supervise children as there is a current even at low water. Children need to know how to swim, keep their head above water, and angle towards the bank (vs trying to fight the current by going directly in) to exit the water in case they accidentally go in too far. If it’s been raining and the river is up and stronger, please don’t enter the water. The swimming hole is at a bend in the river about a half mile downstream along the Riverfront Trail – it’s deep enough for an adult to swim without touching bottom. There may also be fishermen there at times. In most places an adult can wade across the river at summer levels. There is always a slow to moderate current – this is the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River which drains the I-90 corridor from Snoqualmie Pass so please respect the River. It’s not a small stream. You don’t need to worry about waterfalls downstream as it’s over a mile to the junction with the other River forks and then another 2-3 miles down to Snoqualmie Falls.
Q: What do I do if the power in the upstairs bathroom goes out while using the hairdryer?
Once in a while, using the hairdryer in the upstairs bathroom causes the power to go out in the bathroom. If this happens:
First check the main breaker box in the master bedroom. If one of the breakers is popped off, reset it.
If there are no issues with the breaker, then reset the gfi plug in the upstairs bathroom.
Watch the video here for the details as to how to troubleshoot.

Q: This is a studio suite and the listing says it sleeps up to four. How does this work?
There is a queen bed, an air mattress and foam mattress. Not great for 4 adults but works if have some kids. The air mattress is a 1 person adult size as is the foam mattress. Due to the size of the room, we highly recommend that the 4th person be a child. Typically, groups of 4 staying in this unit are 2 adults and 2 kids, or 2 adults one teen and one kid. We’ve also had 3 adults stay comfortably.
